Read moreWhat a wonderful stay we have just had at The Cherries. We booked this break as it fell upon the first birthday without my mum who we lost in January. We wanted to be together as a family to celebrate her special day and what a great place we chose! The sun was shining and the cottage garden was the perfect setting to do this. The cottage is lovely, the personal touches inside the cottage add to its charm. It has everything you need and more. I particularly enjoyed being able to fall asleep and wake up and hear no traffic! I even looked at house prices in the area while we were there as I loved the location so much. Marion was so helpful. Even when I asked if we could have another room made up for other family members it was no trouble. It truly felt like home from home. The garden is a little gem. I think our dogs have sulked since we arrived home! Thanks for such a lovely stay. We look forward to another visit next year.
Spent a lovely week here in August 2020. The cottage is much bigger than it looks from the photos with plenty of space for our family of four plus dog. Really nice garden, friendly neighbours and a well-equipped cottage gave us everything we needed. Good access to York and plenty of dog walks close by made it a very enjoyable week.
We've had another wonderful stay at The Cherries (our second stay in 5 months!). Marion and Rob were fantastic hosts. The cottage was very well equipped with everything you could possibly need (and more !). Marion's homemade lemon cake was delicious and enjoyed by eveyone! We were also given a lovely bottle of wine. The cottage is superbly decorated throughout and we loved Rob's paintings on the walls. The games room was fantastic too and my two little boys had lots of fun playing up there. It was also lovely to have open fires, which made for cozy evenings. My little boy, aged 2 and a half, loved playing in the garden on the slide and the wendy house. I particularly loved the conservatory which was so light and a lovely place to read. We have had two fantastic stays at The Cherries and will be returning soon as there are lots of places to visit nearby- especially York, Castle Howard and Piglets Adventure Park.
Thank you Marion and Rob for a wonderful stay at The Cherries. You've made such a lovely and cosy place with everything guests could possibly need. A real home from home. We especially enjoyed the lemon cake and the prosecco! The play room is a brilliant addition and perfect for children. We managed to get through lots of the games one rainy evening! The garden is also a gorgeous space, we'd love to come back to enjoy it in the sunshine one day!
Fantastic few days in a beautiful house. So many lovely touches made the stay extra special. We will definitely be recommending to friends. Wish we could have stayed a few more days.
We stayed in The Cherries for a few days. The owners left us a lovely little welcome hamper which included a home baked cake which went down very well with our daughter.
We stayed with two young children who loved the very peaceful garden which had a little wendy house, slide and swings for them. We were asked if we wanted these so if you don’t have children you could benefit from more lawn space without these. Luckily we were blessed with the weather so thoroughly enjoyed the quiet countryside garden.
The cottage is in a quiet little village just outside a small town which was handy for all those amenities. It was very clean and well presented, more like a family home rather than a purpose made rental cottage.
We chose the cottage for a break from city life but also to spend some time in York. This was a very simple 15 to 20 minute drive away so a great all round location.
Overall we enjoyed our time at The Cherries and would recommend.
We had a wonderful week staying at The Cherries in August. The house is beautifully and thoughtfully presented and is fully equipped with absolutely everything you might need. There is plenty to do nearby and we enjoyed days out exploring the area - Castle Howard, Helmsley and Rievaulx, York to name a few highlights. The house is very comfortable and homely and there is also a lovely garden to relax in. Hosts Marion and Rob live next-door and they are so welcoming and incredibly helpful, whilst giving you plenty of space and privacy to enjoy your holiday. The homemade cake on arrival was such a lovely touch - and very welcome after a long drive from Dorset!
We couldn’t recommend the cottage enough - it really is a (luxury!) home away from home set in stunning Yorkshire countryside.
Delightful cottage, decorated with great imagination- every room full of surprises! The "feel" of the place is rather special and we felt cosy and settled immediately.
All amenities are here, the outside space is more than ample and the hosts were very welcoming. Overall, a great place to stay which is handy for the North York Moors, seaside or York but is also in a setting where you would be happy to explore the villages and towns of the Wolds and the immediate area.
Highly recommended and thanks for a lovely stay.
